Folk Artisan Craftwork Rebooted

Folk arts and crafts are an inseparable part of the country’s cultural code: they embody a living link between generations and a resource for regional development. Participants in the discussion will consider practical mechanisms for preserving distinctive regional traditions and integrating them into today’s cultural and economic agenda: legal support and protection for the crafts, the development of the sector as part of the creative economy, the training of specialists, and the role of museums in studying and promoting this heritage. Particular attention will be given to the balance between authenticity and innovation: successful cases of adapting traditional techniques in design, fashion, and museum communication, engaging young people, and building a new audience. The intention is to draw up practical recommendations for government authorities and professional communities.
