Fashion in Cultural Dialogue: Identity, Tradition, and Global Trends
Fashion is one of the most vivid and dynamic design practices, as it responds instantly to shifts in culture, society, and mindset. Today, Russian fashion is being profoundly reconceptualized: the departure of Western brands has created a space for original creative expression, while simultaneously raising questions about the message we wish to convey to the world through the language of fashion. Should Russia seek its own distinct path or align with global trends? How can fashion embody cultural identity without simply devolving into an ethnographic costume? And, most importantly, how can fashion turn into a cultural practice that not only shapes a person’s wardrobe, but also their mindset, values, and sense of self?
The participants will discuss prospects for entering international markets and the role fashion plays in shaping a new cultural image of Russia.
