Traditional vs. neoliberal values: a new bloc confrontation

General Staff Building, Green Hall 6/8 Palace sq., St. Petersburg

Thirty years following the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of the ideological confrontation between the socialist and capitalist camps, the world is striving for a new bloc confrontation, reminiscent of the previous one in its geographical contour. It is underpinned by value-based antagonism, in which traditional values are opposed to neoliberal ones. The West is pursuing an aggressive policy of instilling and expanding neoliberal values through culture — cinema, music, literature. Whereas Russia today is moving in the wake of the struggle for the preservation, protection and propagation of traditional values. And its chief allies in this respect are Russian creators, film and theatre figures, musicians, writers, artists, members of creative industries, and influencers.
