The Creative Dimension of Historical Memory

11/09/2025
11:00 — 12:30
Mariinsky Palace

In the year marking the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, speakers and participants will discuss the creative dimension of historical memory and its priorities. A separate focus will be on the genocide of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War perpetrated by the Nazis and their collaborators. It is symbolic that the creative interpretation of historical memory is enshrined in law as one form of commemoration, under the law “On Perpetuating the Memory of the Victims of the Genocide of the Soviet People during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.” In this spirit, recent years have seen the creation of works of art and literature, museum exhibitions, and musical compositions.
